Committee Member responsibilities
Committee members are the lifeblood of the church! It is the committee member who carries the work load of the committee. GUMC is most grateful for all its wonderful committee members and we appreciate all they do. Members must:
Committee members, when they agree to be on the committee, agree to share the work of the committee. Members are NOT there just to vote and help make decisions. Members should volunteer to carry out work functions of the committee or expect to be assigned their fair share of the committee's work responsibility.
- Prayerfully consider business before the committee
- Willingly assume part of the committee workload
- Discuss committee plans with congregational members (except for privacy issues) to obtain feedback and ideas
- Be innovative and creative in approaching committee problems or assignments
- Be cooperative in all committee activities and meetings
- Not talk down or talk over other committee members; committees require an open and free flow of ideas and concepts
- Attend all committee meetings if possible
- Vote on actions when requested to do so
